Jocelyn Wildenstein’s Final Hours Revealed by Longtime Partner Lloyd Klein

Lloyd Klein, longtime partner of late socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein, shared intimate memories of her final hours in an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE. Wildenstein, 84, passed away on December 31 due to phlebitis, a condition that causes inflammation of a vein.

Klein revealed that the couple had a happy evening before taking a nap to look good for New Year’s Eve celebrations. However, when he woke up, he found Wildenstein cold and dead. She had suffered from swollen legs due to the blocked blood flow, which cut off oxygen to the brain.

Despite her grandmother also having the condition, it didn’t impact their holiday festivities. Just days prior, Wildenstein’s health was reported perfect as they attended Fashion Week at Chanel and dinner at The Ritz. Klein described the couple’s holiday season as “beautiful” and noted that Wildenstein had made television appearances and looked extremely beautiful.

The two were spending time in Paris before her passing, where she was “very happy” and “at the top of her game.” Two months prior, they attended the Chanel show, where everyone welcomed them with open arms. The couple’s final hours were marked by a return to Paris and a celebration for the new year.
