Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow said the team’s offense needs to improve after a preseason opener where the starters played two series and scored 14 points, including two touchdowns.
Burrow had a mixed performance, completing 11 of his first 12 passes before throwing an incomplete pass to Tee Higgins on his first throw. He then went 9-for-9 for 123 yards, but was penalized twice for procedural errors and one touchdown pass was negated by a chop block penalty.
Despite the challenges, Burrow praised teammates Ja’Marr Chase and Tanner Hudson, who caught touchdowns in the game. The Bengals’ offense looked sharp, particularly when compared to the Eagles, who did not play all their starters on defense. If Burrow is right that the team’s offense will get better, it could be a scary prospect for opponents this season.
