Comedian and podcast host Joe Rogan has expressed outrage over the deportation of a gay Venezuelan asylum seeker, Andry, to El Salvador without due process. According to his attorney, Lindsay Toczylowski, Andry had no criminal history but was mistakenly identified as part of the alleged gang, Tren de Aragua. Rogan criticized the Trump administration’s approach, stating that innocent individuals should not be lumped with gang members.
Andry, a 31-year-old makeup artist, sought asylum in the US but was deported to El Salvador instead. Immigration officials believed his tattoos were indicative of gang affiliation, despite his attorney denying this. Andry was sent to El Salvador’s notorious Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), which is known for its harsh conditions.
Rogan also expressed concern over another Venezuelan deportee, Franco José Caraballo, a barber with no criminal record. He questioned the government’s response, saying it should have alerted authorities about the potential mistake.
The comedian believes that wrongful deportations undermine the cause of targeting gang members and highlighted the need for accountability within the administration.
