John Wick Spin-Off Ballerina Faces Mixed Box Office Results

The spin-off film Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas as an assassin-turned-ballerina, has opened to a moderate box office performance. The movie is expected to earn $25-27 million in its opening weekend, outperforming the original but still falling short of expectations.

The film’s release marks a turning point between John Wick: Chapter 3 and Chapter 4. Ballerina takes place during this time frame and follows Eve Macarro as she trains to avenge her father’s death by combining ballet and assassination skills.

In comparison, previous John Wick installments have seen significant growth in their opening weekends. The first film debuted with $14 million in 2014, doubling to $30 million for the second installment. The last two films, Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, earned $56 million and $73 million, respectively.

Whether Ballerina will regain momentum next weekend remains to be seen, but for now, it falls behind Lilo & Stitch, which earned $35 million during its third weekend in theaters.
