The popular morning show on KQRC-FM 98.9 The Rock, hosted by Johnny, Jake, Gregg, Kyle, and Nycki, will conclude its run after a remarkable 32-year tenure in Kansas City radio.
The Johnny Dare Morning Show, which debuted in 1993, has become an institution for many locals, helping to wake up the city’s listeners with its unique blend of entertainment and community engagement. The show’s final broadcast is scheduled for March 7 at 6 a.m., marking the end of an era.
A health scare in 2021 forced Dare to take time off from broadcasting, but he made a triumphant return to his role behind the mic. Despite this setback, the show continued to thrive, earning praise for its charitable efforts and unmatched ratings success in the Kansas City market.
The news comes as another popular morning show on the same station, The Ponch & Nikki show, also announced its departure from the station earlier this week.
