Jordan Jegat Surprises with Top 10 Finish at Tour de France

There was no traditional General Classification (GC) battle on stage 20 of the Tour de France as expected, but a small fight did unfold nonetheless. Jordan Jegat of TotalEnergies snatched the top 10 spot from Ben O’Connor after O’Connor’s lead in the standings was significantly reduced.

Initially, O’Connor started the stage in 10th position, which seemed accidental given his initial focus on the General Classification. However, he found himself back in contention after winning the previous stage to up the Col de la Loze. Nevertheless, when TotalEnergies rider Jordan Jegat got up the road and eventually finished six minutes ahead of a cruising peloton, O’Connor was left behind.

Jegat’s achievement is significant for his career, as a top-10 finish in such a prestigious event can be a game-changer. “His mentality pushed him to make the top 10,” said Lylian Le Breton, TotalEnergies DS. This highlights the importance of a rider’s mindset and dedication in achieving success.

TotalEnergies’ performance is also notable as they did not win any stages throughout the Tour. In contrast, Jordan Jegat’s surprise finish has boosted his standings as a rider, making it an unexpected but welcome development for the team.
