The Buffalo Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Khalil Shakir have a promising chemistry, but it doesn’t quite rank among the top quarterback-wide receiver duos in the NFL. According to PFF’s latest rankings, they were only ranked 18th.
Despite this, Shakir has become the leading receiver on the team and Allen’s most targeted receiver. The duo’s efficiency scores are high, with a completion rate of 83.6% and no turnover-worthy plays. However, their connection is more situational and scheme-dependent due to Shakir only playing in 11 personnel.
Shakir added 821 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 15 games, with an impressive catch-to-target ratio among NFL receivers who averaged at least 1.8 receptions per game. Cornerback Tre’Davious White praised Shakir’s after-catch ability, saying he has “hands of Velcro.”
The duo is poised to last for a long time due to their contract extensions, which will keep them with the Bills for at least four years. With the addition of Joshua Palmer and Keon Coleman to the receiver room, Shakir is still expected to be Allen’s most trusted target.
As the season progresses, Bills fans can expect more targets for Shakir, leading to larger stat lines that could put him and Allen in the conversation for best quarterback-wide receiver duo in the league.
