Foo Fighters drummer Josh Freese has been let go from the band, according to an Instagram announcement from Freese himself. The veteran drummer joined the band almost two years ago, taking over after Taylor Hawkins’ death in March 2022.
Freese, who also played with Nine Inch Nails, Guns N’ Roses, and A Perfect Circle, expressed his acceptance of the decision but also showed shock and disappointment. He stated he has never been fired from a band before and was not angry, just surprised.
The Foo Fighters camp declined to comment on the reason for Freese’s departure. The band had previously toured with him since May 2023, with their only upcoming performance scheduled for October 4 at the Singapore Grand Prix.
