JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon expressed regret over using expletives during a recent employee town hall, but maintained his stance on requiring employees to return to the office five days a week. The bank’s policy has sparked a petition from employees calling for a hybrid work arrangement.
Dimon said he would not change his mind despite opposition. “We’re going back to the office,” he stated. In response to an employee petition, Dimon claimed he wouldn’t be swayed by the number of signatures. “I don’t care how many people sign that f***ing petition.”
Regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, Dimon acknowledged the need for legal compliance but expressed skepticism about quotas and bias training. He said that certain programs were wasteful due to ineffective trainings and unnecessary meetings.
Despite his comments, Dimon reaffirmed JPMorgan’s commitment to DEI initiatives, particularly those focused on supporting underrepresented communities such as Black, Hispanic, LGBT, veteran, and disabled individuals.
This stance comes after the bank published its annual report with reduced mentions of DEI. Other major banks have also made adjustments to their DEI policies, including Citigroup and Goldman Sachs.
