JPMorgan Chase workers are calling on chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon to retain the hybrid-work model, which the bank has used for years, and invest resources in flexible schedules. The request comes as the bank requires over 300,000 employees to return to office five days a week starting early next month.
A group of JPMorgan Chase employees, known as the “JPMC Workers,” have launched a petition calling for better working conditions and an end to the mandate. They argue that the hybrid model led to reduced costs, enhanced morale, and strengthened employee retention, resulting in successive years of profit. In January, the bank reported $58.5 billion in net income.
The petition also highlights the lack of amenities at traditional office spaces, such as crowded and noisy offices with first-come, first-serve seating. Many employees feel “betrayed and devalued” by the decision to return to full-time office work.
This move is part of a broader unionization push among JPMorgan Chase employees. Roughly a dozen employees have contacted the CWA to organize, and hundreds more are forming chat groups on Signal. The bank workers are seeking better working conditions, which could lead to the formation of a labor union.
