JPMorgan Renames Diversity Program Amid Trump-Backed Efforts

JPMorgan Chase & Co., the largest US bank, has rebranded its diversity, equity, and inclusion program as “Diversity, Opportunity & Inclusion” (DOI). The change comes amid a backlash from President Donald Trump’s administration, which aims to remove DEI programs from government agencies and corporations.

In a memo to staff, Chief Operating Officer Jenn Piepzak explained that the name change reflects the bank’s focus on equal opportunities rather than outcomes. JPMorgan has always been committed to merit-based hiring practices, without quotas or pay incentives tied to diversity.

Despite Trump’s efforts to erase DEI programs, JPMorgan plans to maintain a strong focus on employee engagement and cultural celebrations through its employee groups. The bank will reduce training sessions while continuing to offer high-quality offerings.

The name change follows recent reports of corporations and agencies removing mentions of DEI from their websites and eliminating related teams.
