Jamie Dimon, 68, is leading JPMorgan Chase in his nearly two-decade tenure as CEO. The bank’s top executives are vying for the position, with several long-time officials remaining in the hunt.
Potential successors include Marianne Lake, who runs consumer and community banking, and Troy Rohrbaugh, a co-head of investment banking. They, along with Douglas Petno, a co-head of global banking, have been observed by Dimon during business trips, which amounts to an extended audition for his recommendation.
After Daniel Pinto’s retirement in 2026, he will step out of the chief operating officer role. Jennifer Piepszak, 54, has taken over as COO and has notified JPMorgan she won’t seek the CEO job in the near future.
Analysts at Truist Securities described Tuesday’s announcement as a “shuffling of the ranks” without providing clearer succession answers for Dimon. Despite this, several long-time bank executives remain contenders for the top spot.
