Judge Dismisses Indictments Against James Comey and Letitia James

A federal judge has dismissed the indictments against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James, ruling that President Donald Trump’s appointment of interim US Attorney Lindsey Halligan was invalid. The judge found that Halligan’s appointment was based on a 120-day period before confirmation by the Senate or approval from local judges had expired, making her actions “unlawful exercises of executive power.” The dismissal does not guarantee that the cases against Comey and James can be brought again, but it leaves open the possibility.
