Former Alabama football star Julio Jones has officially announced his retirement from the NFL after a 13-year career. The wide receiver, one of the greatest in Crimson Tide history, made the announcement on social media, citing his decision to end his playing days.
Jones was a highly touted recruit who joined the Crimson Tide in 2008 and quickly became an immediate star as a freshman. He played key roles in Alabama’s national championship teams under coach Nick Saban and went on to have a successful NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Philadelphia Eagles.
During his time in the NFL, Jones accumulated over 12,000 receiving yards, 60 touchdowns, and seven Pro Bowl selections. He was also named two-time First Team All-Pro and is considered one of the greatest wide receivers ever. With 914 receptions for 13,703 yards and 66 touchdowns across 166 games, Jones concludes his career as a legendary figure in the sport.
