Justice Department Releases Tens of Thousands of Epstein Files

The US Department of Justice has released tens of thousands of records related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, although many are heavily redacted. The release comes after a year-long bipartisan push for transparency, led by lawmakers such as Rep. Ro Khanna and Rep. Thomas Massie.

The law signed by President Trump in November requires the DOJ to make unclassified records publicly available within 30 days. However, some files are being withheld due to concerns about victim identities or active investigations.

Despite redactions, many documents include photographs, contact lists, flight logs, business records, and memos. Former President Bill Clinton’s name appears prominently in some of these images, but his deputy chief of staff says releasing more grainy photos won’t change the outcome.

The Justice Department plans to release hundreds of thousands of documents over several weeks. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have released their own batch of Epstein emails and documents, including those from high-profile figures like Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Republican strategist Steve Bannon. Rep. Khanna is calling for further action, including additional testimony from survivors or lawsuits, to push for more documents to be released.
