Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert suffered a dismal playoff performance against the Houston Texans on Saturday. Despite starting strong, Herbert’s offense was stifled by the Texans defense, resulting in just one touchdown and four interceptions. The 242-yard outing marked the worst playoff game of Herbert’s career to date.
The Chargers’ struggles continued as they failed to capitalize on several scoring opportunities, including a historic 197-yard performance from wide receiver Ladd McConkey. One of those chances came when Herbert threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown, but his lone TD pass to McConkey in the fourth quarter may have saved him from becoming the worst postseason quarterback.
Herbert’s struggles bring to mind former Texans QB Brian Hoyer’s 2015 playoff performance, which is arguably the worst over the last decade. With two painful playoff experiences already under his belt, Herbert will need to learn and grow from this loss to bounce back in future games.
