Justin Turner Heads to Cubs on 1-Year, $6 Million Deal

Justin Turner won’t be joining the Boston Red Sox this season. The two-time All-Star had been linked to a potential reunion with his former team after splitting time between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners in 2024. However, reports now indicate that Turner is set to return to the National League with the Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs finalized a one-year deal worth $6 million for Turner’s services. The agreement comes just weeks after Turner himself expressed interest in spending the 2025 season with the Cubs. With this signing, the team gains a veteran right-handed hitter and leader who can fill key roles on the field.

Turner’s departure means Boston will miss out on his presence during the 2024 campaign. However, the Red Sox will have another opportunity to see him in action when they host the Cubs at Wrigley Field in mid-July for a three-game series led by manager Alex Cora.
