Kansas Falls to Arkansas in First-Round March Madness Upset

Kansas University men’s basketball team has been knocked out of the first round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2006, losing to No. 10 seed Arkansas 79-72. The Razorbacks’ comeback win marked their first appearance in the tournament since 2019.

The game was close until a late 15-5 run by Arkansas in the second half gave them the lead. After KJ Adams went down with an injury, Arkansas pulled off the upset. This loss also marks the second time this season that a No. 1 ranked team has lost in the first round of the tournament.

Arkansas’ win has now reduced the number of perfect brackets in the country to less than 0.7%. The odds of having a perfect NCAA Tournament bracket are approximately 1 in 9 quintillion for everyday fans, but improving to 1 in 120 billion if you’re an avid college basketball fan.

Kansas will not advance further in the tournament, while Arkansas moves on to face No. 2 seed St. John’s or No. 15 seed Omaha in the second round on March 22.
