Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, faced backlash on Sunday after her daring red carpet look at the 2025 Grammys sparked controversy. The outfit, featuring a nearly nude sheerness and seemingly no underwear, drew heated questions about whether it broke the dress code or the law.
Executive producer Raj Kapoor clarified that the “artistic black-tie” dress code listed on guest invitations is open to interpretation in the music industry. However, Kapoor emphasized that performers must adhere to specific standards and practices when performing on stage.
West was nominated for Best Rap Song for his album “Carnival,” but he and Censori were not asked to leave despite concerns over their outfit. An investigation into potential legal consequences has been closed by the Los Angeles Police Department.
The red carpet stunt was reportedly inspired by West’s Vultures 1 album cover, which featured a similar topless look. West also defended his wife’s outfit on Instagram before it was deleted, claiming she is the “most Googled person” and stating they beat the Grammys in a tongue-in-cheek comment.
The Recording Academy has declined to comment on the incident.
