Karla Sofía Gascón, 53, has won her first major role since the controversy surrounding her past social media posts. According to Variety, she will star alongside Vincent Gallo in a movie titled The Life Lift. In the film, Gascón plays a psychiatrist who embodies both good and evil.
Galcón will play a character named Gabriel, whose actions are triggered by Post-its left in his apartment building elevator. The movie is set to be directed by Italian filmmaker Stefania Rossella Grassi, making her directorial debut.
This comes after Gascón’s whirlwind Oscars season, where she was nominated for Best Actress as the lead actress in Netflix’s Emilia Pérez. However, a scandal over her past social media posts appeared to derail her campaign. Despite this, Gascón has been working on her personal growth and apologized for her mistakes.
Galcón, 64, last appeared in a movie in 2022’s Shut In. The role marks his return to the screen after a several-year hiatus.
