In her Instagram post, Gascón expressed gratitude for the Academy nomination and praised Jimmy Kimmel, saying he is “fabulous.” She also honored her “Emilia Pérez” collaborators who won awards at the ceremony, including Zoe Saldaña and Camille.
Gascón faced backlash after making Islamophobic comments on social media and criticizing diversity in the film industry. However, Netflix reversed its decision to stop paying for Gascón’s award season appearances, allowing her to attend the Oscars. “Emilia Pérez” won awards in two categories: best supporting actress for Zoe Saldaña and best original song for “El Mal.”
