Keanu Reeves’ Novel “The Book of Elsewhere” Explores Ancient Warrior’s Quest for Meaning

An ancient immortal who wants to die, a 78,000-year-old pig, and actor Keanu Reeves walk into a bar. The bartender says he’d like to read a book about it. Luckily, Reeves has already written “The Book of Elsewhere” in collaboration with author China Miéville. The novel is set in the science fiction universe of Reeves’ BRZRKR series.

In “The Book of Elsewhere,” an ancient warrior tries to find meaning in his life and hopes to discover a way to end it. The book will be released on July 23rd.

BRZRKR started as a series of graphic novels that Reeves wrote and published in 2021. Netflix then picked up the story for a live-action adaptation starring Reeves, along with an animated spin-off.

China Miéville said they wanted to approach the novel in a way that was new and literary, while still honoring the source material. Keanu Reeves added that he hoped other creators could “play” with the BRZRKR toys.

Reeves has been exploring different forms of media lately, including helming BRZRKR, acting in films like John Wick Chapter 4, and regrouping with his band Dogstar for a North American tour in 2024. You can also listen to Reeves and Dogstar talk about music on the Kyle Meredith With… podcast.
