Kelly Clarkson has released a new Christmas album visualizer that features subtle shade at her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. The deluxe version of her holiday album “When Christmas Comes Around…” includes a visualizer with a roaring fireplace, Christmas tree, and four stockings for her children River, Remington, and Remy. However, one stocking reads “Nope” in place of Blackstock.
Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in 2020 after seven years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple’s divorce was finalized in 2021 following a drawn-out battle over spousal support and their Montana ranch. Starstruck Entertainment, the management company owned by Blackstock’s father, sued Clarkson for alleged breach of management contract and unpaid fees.
In recent years, Clarkson has also subtly shaded her ex-husband during performances. In 2023, she sang a cover of Gayle’s “abcdefu” on her NBC talk show, belting out lyrics that included “Forget you and your dad / And the fact that you got half.” The lyrics were seen as a nod to her divorce from Blackstock.
Clarkson’s tenth studio album, Chemistry, released last summer, was also inspired by her turbulent divorce. With the release of her new Christmas visualizer, it seems Clarkson is still spreading subtle shade at her ex-husband, using her music as a form of empowerment and closure.
