Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock Dies at 48

Singer Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband and former manager, Brandon Blackstock, has died at the age of 48. A representative for the family announced his passing, stating that he bravely battled cancer for over three years and passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Blackstock was a key figure in Clarkson’s career, representing her with Starstruck Management before they parted ways in 2020. Despite their divorce, Blackstock continued to earn fees from their work together, leading to court disputes over commissions. In 2023, Clarkson released an album concept that lyrically explored her relationship with Blackstock, tackling the ups and downs of their romance.

Recently, a California labor commissioner ordered Blackstock to pay back $2.6 million to Clarkson, stating that he improperly made deals for her without following proper procedures. The ruling was part of ongoing lawsuits between the former spouses, which were settled in 2024.

Blackstock was also involved in managing other clients, including Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire. He met Clarkson in 2006 at a rehearsal for the Academy of Country Music Awards and they married in 2013. The couple had two children together before divorcing in 2020. Blackstock is survived by his second wife and their children from a previous marriage.
