Actor and comedian Kenan Thompson has revealed he’s feeling much better after receiving treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). In an interview with People, Thompson said he was diagnosed with the disease after experiencing issues for over two years. The comedian described his condition as a “suffering-in-silence situation,” where he wasn’t sure if he needed medical attention due to potential embarrassment.
Thompson, who is the longest-serving cast member in 50-year history of Saturday Night Live, revealed that his discomfort caused problems with performing on the show. His voice would tire quickly, and sleepless nights added to the stress. However, after starting treatment, Thompson reported near-immediate relief from his symptoms.
The comedian has now spoken out about his health issues to help others who may be struggling with undiagnosed GERD.
