Kendrick Lamar is no stranger to taking aim at his musical nemesis, Drake. The Compton native has been in a heated beef with the Toronto rapper since 2013, and it shows no signs of slowing down. In recent months, Lamar has dropped subtle (and not-so-subtle) shots at Drake through his music, performances, and even fashion choices.
One notable instance was during the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, where Lamar wore a custom jacket with a lowercase “a” on it – a nod to his hit song “Tryna strike a chord and it’s young.” The internet quickly picked up on the subtle jab at Drake, who is known for his Canadian tuxedo style.
Lamar also took aim at Drake’s lyrics about Serena Williams during a performance of his song “Middle of the Ocean” in 2022. However, when Williams appeared crip walking under streetlights during the Super Bowl performance of “Not Like Us,” it was clear that Lamar was sending a message.
The music video for “Not Like Us” is also full of subtle and overt jabs at Drake, from the beating of his owl logo to having his fiancée crip walk. The cover art even features an aerial shot of Drake’s Toronto home with labels similar to those used by law enforcement to pinpoint sex offenders – a clear reference to Drake’s history of taking shots at Lamar.
The rapper’s latest performance of “Not Like Us” back-to-back was also a notable moment, where he was joined by A-listers and friends who took the stage to add to the hype. DeMar DeRozan even appeared in both the concert and music video, making it clear that Lamar is keeping tabs on his hometown rival.
It’s clear that Kendrick Lamar is not holding back when it comes to taking aim at Drake. With five Grammys under his belt for “Not Like Us,” it’s safe to say that this feud is far from over.
