Veteran closer Kenley Jansen has agreed to a one-year deal worth $10 million with the Los Angeles Angels, according to sources confirmed by ESPN. The 37-year-old pitcher has 447 saves in his 15-year career, ranking him fourth on baseball’s all-time saves list.
Jansen, who spent two seasons with the Boston Red Sox last year, brings experience to a promising young bullpen led by hard-throwing Ben Joyce. In 2023, Joyce recorded four saves in a brief audition as the team’s closer.
A four-time All-Star, Jansen previously played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves. He has consistently recorded at least 25 saves per season since 2012, excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 season.
