Kennedy Center Honors Celebrates Soul, Blues, and Jazz Legends

The annual Kennedy Center Honors ceremony brought together music legends, movie stars, and President Biden to pay tribute to five honorees in a musical evening of soul, blues, and jazz. Queen Latifah kicked off the event with a medley of songs connected to each honoree, featuring a surprise piano performance by Robert De Niro.

The ceremony also featured performances by The “President’s Own” United States Marine Band and J’Nai Bridges, singing the national anthem. The Apollo Theater was also honored as part of the celebration. This year’s event paid tribute to Bonnie Raitt, Arturo Sandoval, Francis Ford Coppola, the Grateful Dead, and the iconic venue itself.
