Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the newly appointed US health secretary, has issued a stern warning to major food companies, demanding they remove artificial dyes from their products. The ultimatum comes as part of his efforts to address what he claims are contributing factors to chronic diseases in the US.
Kennedy met with CEOs from companies like PepsiCo, General Mills, and Kraft Heinz, urging them to commit to reducing food additives. The Health and Human Services secretary, who has previously expressed skepticism about vaccines, believes that highly processed foods play a significant role in the growing epidemic of obesity, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders.
Kennedy’s demands are part of his efforts to address health concerns, as he oversees $1.7 trillion in federal spending, vaccine recommendations, food safety, and health insurance programs affecting roughly half the US population.
