Kenya Investigates Falling Space Junk in Rural Village

A 500kg metal ring fell to Earth in a rural village in Kenya, leaving residents unharmed. The object, identified by experts from the country’s space agency as a separation ring from a launch vehicle, is believed to have re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere and fallen over an unoccupied area. According to the Kenya Space Agency, these types of rings are designed to burn up or fall over oceans, reducing the risk of damage or injury. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
