Keurig Dr Pepper and JDE Peet’s have agreed to a $18 billion all-cash transaction, where KDP will acquire the Dutch coffee company. Under the deal, Tim Cofer, current CEO of Keurig, will lead the beverage division, while Sudhanshu Priyadarshi will head the coffee division. The acquisition aims to create a global “coffee champion” through the combination of their platforms.
JDE Peet’s was formed in 2019 by combining Jacobs Douwe Egberts and Peet’s. KDP will pay shareholders €31.85 ($37.30) per share, representing a 33% premium on the Dutch firm’s stock price. The deal includes a tax-free spin-off of Global Coffee Co., with headquarters in Burlington, Massachusetts, and Amsterdam.
The companies see the acquisition as a significant boost to KDP’s coffee position, unlocking operating and financial benefits. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2026 after unanimous approval from JDE Peet’s board.
