Kevin Costner Denies Rape Allegations in Lawsuit Against Stunt Performer

Actor Kevin Costner has vehemently denied allegations by stunt performer Devyn LaBella that he forced her to perform an unscripted “violent” rape scene on the set of his film Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2. LaBella, who alleges that she was not given proper notice or consent for the scene, claims Costner told her to “lay down” before directing a male actor to simulate a violent attack on her.

In response, Costner filed a declaration in Los Angeles superior court, calling LaBella’s lawsuit a “bold-faced lie” designed to damage his reputation. His lawyer, Marty Singer, claims that the incident was actually part of a pre-planned scene and that LaBella’s account is “patently false”.

LaBella, who worked on lead actress Ella Hunt’s character in the film, alleges that she was not informed about the change from scripted to unscripted rape scenes. She also claims that an intimacy coordinator, which was mandated by her contract, was not present during filming.

However, Costner’s declaration disputes these claims, citing text messages and testimony from other crew members as evidence that LaBella had no issue with the scene and even expressed gratitude towards the production team. LaBella seeks unspecified damages for career disruption and “permanent trauma” due to her alleged experience on set.
