Kevin Durant Dismisses Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Performance

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant sparked a social media frenzy after dismissing Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl 59 halftime show performance as “meaningless” to him. The rapper was performing his hit single “Not Like Us,” which he had released just one week before the big game.

Durant, who is friends with fellow rapper Drake, claimed he didn’t pay attention to the performance due to a lack of interest in the Super Bowl itself, saying it was “boring” to watch. The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs 34-0 through two and a half quarters, making Durant’s comment somewhat justified.

Durant has been vocal about his support for Drake on several occasions, including walking onstage with him during a concert tour show in September 2023. He has also praised Drake’s crew, OVO, as “like family” to him. This performance marked the latest chapter in the long-standing hip-hop rivalry between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.

Despite the controversy surrounding their past diss tracks, which culminated in Lamar winning five Grammy awards for “Not Like Us,” Durant’s response was surprisingly neutral. The 13-minute set by Kendrick Lamar featured elaborate choreography and a crowd-pleasing finale with his song “TV Off.” However, it seems Durant wasn’t impressed.
