Kevin Durant Invests in PSG for Potential Basketball Expansion

NBA superstar Kevin Durant has invested in Paris Saint-Germain soccer club with plans to consult on a potential expansion into basketball as part of his investment. The move comes after Qatar Sports Investments, PSG’s primary owner, acquired a direct minority stake in the team through Durant and business partner Rich Kleiman.

Durant previously held a small shareholding in PSG but now has a significant stake. He expressed enthusiasm for partnering with QSI to explore new investment opportunities as he looks forward to being part of PSG’s next phase of growth.

PSG has dominated French soccer, winning multiple Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League titles. The team’s potential basketball expansion could bridge the gap between soccer and basketball for the club, given Durant’s significant influence in the basketball world.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver plans to pitch an NBA-owned and operated European professional league, including new teams and potentially defectors from the EuroLeague. PSG is expected to be part of this league if it creates a basketball team, although the impact on Paris Basketball remains unclear.
