Kevin Durant Seeks Spurs and Rockets as Trade Destinations

Kevin Durant’s trade situation has been heating up, with reports indicating that he wants to be traded to either the San Antonio Spurs or Houston Rockets. The 37-year-old shooting guard has one year left on his contract, worth $54.7 million, and is seeking a two-year extension for over $100 million.

If Durant gets his wish, both teams would become title contenders. The Spurs have a strong young core, including Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox, but lack an elite-level scorer to trust in the playoffs. The Rockets, on the other hand, had a successful season last year but fell short due to a lack of spacing and scoring in the half court.

However, both teams are hesitant to make a move, with the Spurs reportedly only willing to trade their No. 14 pick and parts of their young core. The Rockets’ offer may focus around Jabari Smith Jr. Meanwhile, the Suns are taking a more cautious approach, looking for the best return possible and potentially risking Durant walking after one year.

Given his leverage, it’s likely that Durant will be traded soon – possibly by the time of the NBA draft in less than two weeks. The only question is where he’ll end up.
