Kevin Durant Stands by ‘Ring Culture’ as NBA Legacy Focus

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant has responded to criticism about the current state of the NBA on social media, stating that “ring culture” is equally important to him. The 36-year-old made his stance clear in response to a fan who claimed the media created a culture where only casual fans care about winning championships.

Durant’s decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder and join the Golden State Warriors in 2016 earned him two NBA championship rings, which he won in 2017 and 2018. He was named NBA Finals MVP both years and helped the Warriors reach the NBA Finals again in 2019. Although Durant suffered a serious injury that ended his team’s hopes of a three-peat, his legacy remains intact.

Since leaving Golden State before the 2019-20 season, Durant has not made another NBA Finals appearance. Given his two championship rings, it’s no surprise he cherishes his decision to join the Warriors nearly a decade ago and stands by the importance of “ring culture” in the NBA.
