Kevin Owens will not compete at WWE’s WrestleMania 41 due to a neck injury, which requires surgery. The Superstar announced his withdrawal during Friday’s SmackDown.
Owens revealed the news, stating he has been dealing with a serious neck issue for months. After undergoing tests, he is set to undergo surgery and will be unable to face Randy Orton at the event.
The highly anticipated match between Owens and Orton was scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on April 19 and 20. The rivalry between the two had been building up over the past few weeks.
Owens and Orton were once close friends, but their friendship turned sour after Owens attacked Cody Rhodes at Bad Blood in October. Their feud escalated with multiple confrontations before they eventually faced each other in a match at Crown Jewel, which was interrupted by brawling.
Their rivalry continued through Owens’ feuds with Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes, before they were matched for WrestleMania 41. The event is now without the highly anticipated showdown between the two superstars.
