Key Economic Indicators This Week: Inflation Data and Earnings Reports Loom

Fresh inflation data for February arrives on Friday, while market watchers also track earnings reports from GameStop, Dollar Tree, Lululemon, and Oklo. Fed representatives’ remarks, consumer sentiment reports, and housing market data are among the economic indicators expected to attract attention.

Investors will watch the release of the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index for February, which follows a January report showing signs that inflation was cooling. However, despite recent declines in the cost-of-living measurement, the Federal Reserve kept interest rates steady at its meeting last week.

The S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index for January and new home sales data for February will also be released on Tuesday. Pending home sales data for February is due on Thursday, offering a forward-looking view of housing sales amid affordability pressures in the market.

GameStop’s earnings report on Tuesday comes after the company reported a profit in its most recent quarterly report despite declining revenue. Dollar Tree’s expected earnings on Wednesday follow the low-cost retail chain’s better-than-expected results in the prior quarter. Lululemon is scheduled to report its quarterly earnings on Thursday, following strong holiday sales.

Other notable earnings reports include Oklo’s release of nuclear power data and results from McCormick & Co., Core & Main, Smithfield Foods, Pony.ai, Rumble, Cintas, Paychex, Jefferies Financial Group, and SailPoint.
