KFC Moves Corporate HQ from Kentucky to Texas

KFC is leaving its home state of Kentucky for Texas as it shifts its corporate headquarters from Louisville to Plano. The decision, made by Yum Brands, the company’s owner, aims to position the brand for sustainable growth and better serve customers, employees, franchisees, and shareholders. Despite this move, KFC will retain some operations in Kentucky.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear expressed his disappointment with the decision, citing the state’s rich heritage and cultural significance tied to the company’s name. Founded by Colonel Harland Sanders in the 1930s, KFC has a long history in Kentucky, with its founder’s face appearing on over 24,000 restaurants worldwide.

The move follows a trend of US companies relocating their headquarters due to Texas’ business-friendly environment and lower taxes. The two new headquarters locations are Plano for KFC and Pizza Hut, while Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill will remain in Irvine, California.
