Kia Unveils EV4 Electric Sedan, Priced Under $40K in US Market

Kia is entering the electric sedan market with its new EV4, set to debut in the US this year or early next year. The compact sedan will be sold in the United States and starts at around $35,000.

The EV4 features a 201-horsepower front-wheel-drive motor, two battery sizes – 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh, offering estimated ranges of 225-330 miles respectively. A hatchback version is planned for European markets but won’t be available in the US.

Key features include an interior design shared with the EV6 and a spacious rear seat and cargo hold. The sedan boasts a 12.3-inch screen facing the driver and a range of infotainment options. Kia also claims its vehicle will offer fast charging capabilities, achieving a 10-to-80-percent charge in 31 minutes.

Production for US-market models is expected to begin late this year, with the company aiming to tap into the growing demand for affordable electric vehicles.
