Kid Cudi Opens Up About Sean “Diddy” Combs Trial Testimony

Kid Cudi testified at the Sean “Diddy” Combs trial months ago and recently spoke out about his experience on a podcast interview with Alex Cooper. Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, was subpoenaed by federal prosecutors to testify against Combs in connection with a home invasion and car explosion allegedly linked to the Bad Boy Records founder.

Cudi expressed that he did not want to testify but felt obligated to support his longtime ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who was a key witness in the trial. He testified that Combs broke into his house in 2011 after learning about his relationship with Ventura and threatened to blow up her car. Although Cudi’s Porsche exploded in January 2012, there is no clear evidence linking Combs to the incident.

Cudi said he felt “calm” when he walked into court but declined initially when asked to testify against Combs. He was later subpoenaed and wore a casual outfit, including Salomons and Levi’s, to show defiance. Despite not enjoying his time on the witness stand, Cudi found peace in supporting Ventura.

He also discussed the public response to his testimony, saying there was both support and backlash from fans. Cudi claimed that some people judged him based on his rap career, but he emphasized that his music has never been about gang culture or street life. The rapper acknowledged struggling with the experience and becoming more isolated after it.

This marks the first time Cudi has spoken publicly about his experience at the Combs trial in an interview.
