Kim Kardashian’s trial for the 2016 Paris Fashion Week heist has begun at a packed courthouse in Paris. The nine suspects are accused of stealing nearly $10 million in cash and jewelry, including a $4 million engagement ring. Eight defendants deny involvement, while two have admitted to lesser offenses.
The case centers on how the thieves tracked Kardashian’s movements through her social media posts before carrying out the attack at the “No Address” hotel where she was staying. The trial has been delayed for years due to other major cases, but is now expected to conclude by May 23.
One suspect has died and another has Alzheimer’s disease, making them ineligible for trial. Kardashian will testify on May 13, facing the alleged robbers in court for the first time. If convicted, some defendants could face up to 30 years in prison.
