Kimberly Williams-Paisley Opens Up About Struggling with Voice Loss After Surgery

Country star and actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley has been fighting for two years after losing her voice in 2022 due to a medical condition known as muscle tension dysphonia, which left her unable to speak. The 53-year-old actress, married to Brad Paisley, opened up about her life-changing diagnosis and the emotional toll it took on her.

Williams-Paisley initially thought she had strained her voice but soon realized that her vocal weakness was caused by a partial paralysis of her left vocal cord. She tried various treatments, including antidepressants, hypnosis, and alternative therapies, but her voice did not return.

The actress described feeling trapped in her own body, ashamed, and invisible, struggling with days of low energy and cycling anxiety thoughts. Her acting career seemed to be at risk, but she was supported by her husband and kids, who encouraged her through the toughest moments.

Although Williams-Paisley is still recovering, her voice has improved significantly, and she can now speak more easily. She acknowledged that her vocal range remains limited, but learned that speaking softer can be attractive.

The actress recently shared a personal journey on social media, documenting her struggles with muscle tension dysphonia and the emotional impact of losing her voice. Williams-Paisley is set to host the third season of Fox’s reality show “Farmer Wants a Wife” premiering March 20.
