Amazon has released a new color e-reader lineup for its Kindle devices, featuring the Colorsoft Signature Edition with a groundbreaking first-ever color display. This adds to the existing color Kindle Kids model. The two new models are available now, offering a more affordable option for customers.
The Colorsoft Signature Edition, previously priced at $280, has been revised and is now $40 cheaper, retailing at $240. It boasts 32 GB of storage compared to the non-color Kindles, but still offers an auto-adjusting front light. The new model will be available with a similar battery life as the previous version.
The Colorsoft Kids model features a color screen, 16 GB of storage, and comes with a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+, which provides access to age-appropriate books and content. This model is priced at $270, compared to the original Kindle Kids model.
Both models have similar display sizes and charging methods, with the new Colorsoft offering only USB-C charging and wireless Qi charging on the Signature Edition. The cheaper Colorsoft will also come with three months of Kindle Unlimited access to read on demand.
The color screen is particularly appealing for graphic novel and comic readers, while classic book readers can still enjoy colorful covers on the homepage. A year’s subscription to Amazon Kids+ is included in both models, providing a free trial option for new customers. Both the Colorsoft ($250) and the Colorsoft Kids ($270) are now available for purchase on Amazon.
