King Charles Records Christmas Message Outside Palace for First Time

King Charles will deliver his Christmas message this year from Fitzrovia Chapel in central London, a break with tradition due to his ongoing cancer treatment. The 76-year-old monarch has been battling an unspecified form of cancer since February and returned to public duties in April.

In contrast to the usual location at Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle, Charles opted for the chapel, which was rebuilt in 1928 by his grandfather, the Duke of York. This year’s message will be recorded on December 23 and broadcast on television and radio at 3 p.m. (10 a.m. ET) on Christmas Day.

The choice of location reflects King Charles’ deep spirituality and highlights his efforts to connect with diverse communities from all faiths or none. The annual speech is expected to be an emotional moment, given the health challenges faced by Charles and his daughter-in-law, Catherine, Princess of Wales.
