Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, which comprises seven core books, a prequel short story, and a later novel, may not be entirely complete after all. Although there’s an upcoming TV adaptation with Mike Flanagan, the possibility of new book releases remains open.
King recently shared fan art on X (formerly Twitter) featuring Roland Deschain walking through Mid-world, accompanied by hints that we might not have seen the last of this world. In his tweet, King wrote, “Mid-world is still there. The Tower still stands.”
As the name suggests, Mid-world is home to the series’ iconic Dark Tower, which holds the fabric of the multiverse together. Although King’s exact intentions are unclear, his statement at least implies a willingness to revisit this world in the future. Given that he already returned to it with “The Wind Through the Keyhole” eight years after the main series ended, this possibility isn’t entirely surprising.
However, just because King is considering revisiting Mid-world doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing new Dark Tower stories anytime soon. His official website’s “Upcoming Works” section currently remains blank, and based on previous interviews, he seems to be working on another novel featuring Holly Gibney, his recurring private detective.
