Kings Trade De’Aaron Fox to Spurs for Zach LaVine

The Sacramento Kings have traded point guard De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for two-time All-Star Zach LaVine and other assets. Fox, 27, was a key player for the Kings, averaging 21.5 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game over his eight-year tenure. However, it appears he won’t re-sign with Sacramento after being unable to secure an extension.

The deal also sees the Spurs acquire three first-round picks from San Antonio, including a protected top-14 pick in 2025, as well as several second-round picks. The Kings receive LaVine, who is in his third year of a five-year, $215 million contract, and Spurs wing Sidy Cissoko.

The Bulls, who received forward Zach Collins and guard Tre Jones from the Spurs, also gain Kevin Huerter from the Kings. This trade marks a significant shift for Chicago, which is likely to land the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft following a middling season.

LaVine’s addition will help offset the loss of Fox for the Kings, who sit in 10th place at 24-24 as of Sunday. The Spurs, meanwhile, seek to bolster their playoff push with LaVine joining forces with first-time All-Star Victor Wembanyama.
