Kiran Deol Stars In Glimpse Of Post-Apocalyptic World In New Film

Kiran Deol, known for her podcast Hysteria, is heading into the spotlight as she stars in “Didn’t Die,” a zombie comedy premiering tonight at Sundance. The film reteams Deol with director Meera Menon and features Deol playing Vinta, a snarky post-apocalyptic podcast host whose fear is hidden behind an ironic facade. Rabid “biters” roam the Earth, and her dwindling audience, including her traumatized siblings, live under quarantine. When her philandering ex Vincent (George Basil) arrives with a baby, Vinita’s armor begins to crack. The movie pays homage to George Romero’s zombie canon.

Deol previously hosted an all-female podcast and is set to deliver her first leading role after working on “Didn’t Die,” which was produced by Deadline Studio in association with Casamigos. Her previous feature, co-produced with director Meera Menon, earned “Didn’t Die” a Sundance Film Festival spot. The movie reflects Deol’s desire to create around humor and family themes.

In an interview, Deol discussed the challenges of balancing comedy and grief in today’s society, emphasizing the importance of taking risks in the industry without fear of reprisal. She also highlighted her upcoming special comedy “Joysuck,” recorded at the Dynasty Typewriter comedy club.

Kiran Deol is thrilled about the upcoming release of “Didn’t Die,” which she hopes will resonate with audiences amid current societal struggles and fires. The movie marks a significant step in Deol’s career as she navigates the brave terrain of humor and storytelling.
