METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett has made significant progress on his debut solo album, which will feature vocals for the first time in his instrumental EP Portals (2022). In an interview with Rolling Stone, Hammett shared that his upcoming project is a fusion of various styles, including classical and funk influences. The songs he wrote “scream” for vocals.
Hammett also discussed METALLICA’s next album, citing 767 new riffs collected so far. He estimated the band won’t start working on the follow-up to 72 Seasons until at least another year, considering their ongoing tour schedule. Hammett mentioned taking a short break before diving back into music creation.
In addition to his solo work and METALLICA projects, Hammett highlighted his involvement with Metal Addicts, an online community he founded for metal enthusiasts, particularly black metal fans who appreciate the genre’s dark atmosphere and unconventional soundscapes.
