Knicks Struggle with Turnovers Against Pacers’ Fast Break

The New York Knicks have found it challenging to counter the fast-paced style of the Indiana Pacers, particularly when it comes to turnovers. In Game 2, which the Pacers won 114-109, the Knicks committed 13 turnovers that led to 17 points for the Pacers in transition.

On the other hand, the Knicks managed to score only 12 points off 10 Pacers turnovers. Pascal Siakam was a key player in this aspect of the game, consistently leaking out on defensive possessions and beating the Pacers down the floor.

Siakam took one or no dribbles on eight of his 15 field goals, which contributed significantly to the Pacers’ fast-break success. His teammates did an excellent job of feeding him, allowing him to capitalize on these opportunities.

The margin between the teams was slim in Game 2, with a difference of only five points. Josh Hart acknowledged that the Knicks have struggled with taking care of the ball, gifting free points to the Pacers. He emphasized that this can’t be done again if the team wants to succeed against a fast-paced opponent like the Pacers.

Pascal Siakam’s impressive performance in Game 2, which included a season-high 39 points on 15-for-23 shooting from the field, highlights the importance of protecting the ball and exploiting turnovers. The Knicks will need to improve their ball-handling skills if they hope to overcome the Pacers’ fast-break advantage.
